Licensing
In order for a supplier of charitable gaming supplies to provide any supplies to qualified organizations, the supplier must submit an application to the Division and receive a supplier registration certificate. Information concerning these requirements can be found in Part II of the Charitable Gaming Supplier Rules and Regulations.
A non-refundable $1,000 application fee payable to "Treasurer of Virginia" is required. The Division shall act on an application within 90 days of the date of the application. Provisional permits valid for no more than 180 days may be issued by the Division if the background investigation is not completed. The actual cost of background investigations for a Charitable Gaming Supplier permit may be billed by the Division to an applicant.
The Division may refuse to register a supplier or may suspend or revoke a registration certificate if an officer, director, employee, agent or owner:
- Is operating without a valid license, permit or certificate as a supplier or manufacturer in any state in the United States;
- Fails or refuses to recall a product as directed by the Division; or
- Conducts business with unauthorized entities in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
- Has been convicted of a crime of moral turpitude or has violated the gambling laws of any state or province in the United States or Canada. As this provision relates to employees or agents, it shall only apply to individuals involved in sales to or solicitations of customers in the Commonwealth of Virginia; or
- Has been engaged in conduct that would compromise the Division’s objective of maintaining the highest level of integrity in charitable gaming.
